Introduction on importance of EOR.

The Russian government and its major oil companies have realized that there is a need to invest in new fields and new regions, which has led to a focus on East Siberia, the offshore, tight oil, and the Arctic.

EOR is used when the primary (natural flow) and secondary (water and gas injection) methods are no longer effective and normally leave around 60-80% of oil unrecovered.

EXPERIMENTAL TESTS
EFFECT OF MAGNETIC PARTICLE ON VISCOUSITY REDUCTION OF HEAVY OILS IN DIFFERENT SIZE(Micro ,Nano) AND TEMPREATURE(25°c ,50 °c).

SAMPLE HEAVY OIL WHICH USED FOR TESTS .

FORTY TWO NUMBER OF TESTS WERE SET . COMPOSITION: HEVY OIL+IRON(micro and nano size) in 25 °c and 50 °c was investigated.

GRAPHS SHOWED THE EFFECT OF PARTICLES SIZE(MICRO , NANO)IN DIFFERENT TEMPERATURE (25°C , 50°C). the tests showed using the optimum percentage of magnetic particle can reduce the viscosity of heavy oil .

the viscosity of nanofluid depends on many parameters such as base fluids, particle size, particle shape, temperature, particle size distribution and particle aggregation.

The most appropriate catalysts are those containing strong, active sites that can actively break the C-C, C-S, C-O and related bonds in resins and asphaltenes, with a net increase in the concentration of saturates and lighter aromatic hydrocarbons.

Viscosity of heavy oil can be decreased by metal particles even at room temperature, and without applying steam stimulation.
Catalyzing the hydrogenation reactions of aquathermolysis process during steam stimulation is the strongest viscosity reduction mechanism of the metal particles.

The coordination reactions of transition metal particles with the heavy molecules of oil may dominate(control , influence) the exothermic reactions effect in longer times. As a result, metal particles may strongly increase the viscosity.
In order to prevent this effect ,the concentration of particles should be selected in a way that all the particles be consumed during the high temperature hydrogenation and hydrosulphurization reactions.

To decrease the cost of high temperature steam ,
Catalytic flooding can Combined with Thermal methods such as (SAGD).

This combined technology can apply on wells and
reduced steam use,
shortened steam circulation time
increased initial oil production.
