Слайд 1THIS IS WHY AMERICA'S
INTERNET SPEEDS
are SO slow
Слайд 2
Maybe you’ve already noticed.
Слайд 3
American Internet speeds can be pretty slow.
Слайд 4
In fact, the U.S. ranks behind 11 other countries for average
speed!
Слайд 6
So why do we fall behind so many other countries?
Слайд 7One major reason is that some governments more involved in their
country’s Internet capabilities.
Слайд 8The South Korean government helped build out the nation’s broadband infrastructure
and kept it open to lots of Internet providers.
Слайд 9So its citizens have the highest Internet speeds at some of
the cheapest prices.
Слайд 10The U.S. government is trying encourage more competition too, sort of.
Слайд 11The Federal Communications Commission just redefined the minimum speeds for broadband
Internet.
Слайд 13The FCC wants to make the case that there aren’t enough
broadband competitors.
Слайд 14Because under the new standard, many Americans only have one choice
for broadband Internet -- Comcast.
Слайд 15The FCC wants the new minimum broadband speed to encourage providers
to increase their Internet speed options.
Слайд 16It could also mean the proposed merger between Comcast and Time
Warner Cable will be much harder to gain approval.
Слайд 17What it doesn’t mean is that America’s Internet speeds will start
skyrocketing though.
Слайд 18The government would have to offer some sort of incentive for
Internet providers to build more infrastructure and increase their Internet footprint for that.
Слайд 20So for now, Americans will have to settle for our current
Internet speeds.
Слайд 21And hope for just a little more government interaction, and a
lot more competition.

The $19 trillion industry could destroy the Internet
One bleeding-edge technology is
about to put the World-Wide-Web to bed. It could make early investors wildly rich. Experts are calling it the single largest business opportunity in the history of capitalism... The Economist is calling it "transformative"... But you’ll probably just call it "how I made my millions.” Don't be too late to the party —
