Слайд 2WHO IS THIS GUY AND WHY
DOES HE TALK ABOUT JEWELRY?
Julian

Leitloff is Co-Founder of Stilnest.com,
publishing house for designer jewelry.
Tech-enthusiast with business background.

Слайд 3AND WHAT IS STILNEST ALL ABOUT?

It all began with a group

of friends with a business vision.
Today, Stilnest is the first Publishing House for designer jewelry.
We discover exciting artist all around the world and and make their designs happen exclusively for our customers.
We handle production, fine packaging and shipping - the designer can focus deeply on the design process.

Слайд 4WHY 3D PRINTING
AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
The 3D printing technology was

invented more than 30 years ago. Now, finally prices drop and quality increases.

Слайд 5

FROM A ROUGH IDEA
TO A DIGITAL BLUEPRINT
3D printing requires a digital

computer-aided design file
(CAD). It’s like a PDF with a third dimension.

Слайд 6
FROM A DIGITAL BLUEPRINT
TO A PHYSICAL OBJECT
Files created in programs called

“Rhinoceros 3D” or “AutoCAD” are the blueprint for the additive manufacturing process.

Слайд 13MATERIALS IN USE
Sandstone, platinum, stell, brass, bronze, flexible plastics, concrete
polyamide, alumide,

multicolor, titanium, stainless steel, rubber-like

Already in use:
fine-polyamide, alumide, stainless steel, bronze, silver, gold, platinum.

Development stage:
ceramics, paper, wood, sandstone, concrete, multicolor and rubber-like material.

AND MATERIALS TO COME

Materials vary widely in terms of quality, printing speed and price competativeness. There is no single ‘3D Printing’ technology, but various methods. Combination of materials is not possible and hand finishing always necessary. There are many more materials in development.

Слайд 15HOW CAN 3D PRINTING CHANGE
THE WAY JEWELRY DESIGN WORKS?

Слайд 16BIG BRANDS
HAVE BIG ADVANTAGES
Mass production abroad requires financial capital but

ensures very low production costs. Specialized marketing departments create brand awareness beyond local markets.

Слайд 17JEWELRY DESIGNERS
MUST BE MULTI-TALENTED
Independent designers must be marketers and business

administrators as well.
Every collection requires an investment to be price-competitive.

Слайд 183D PRINTING ENABLES GEOMETRIES
THAT COULD NOT BE DONE BEFORE
Molding processes and

CNC machines cannot work with undercuts in geometries.
Delicate objects and functional parts can be printed directly.

Слайд 193D printing increases product diversity with more than ten thousand designs

created every month. 3D printing also liberalizes the access to production resources. Regular manufacturers and brands thus lose influence.

THE CREATION OF DIGITAL DESIGN

IS AS COSTLY AS WRITING A BLOG

Слайд 20PRODUCTS ARE SOLD
BEFORE THEY EVEN EXIST
3D prints can be produced on

demand. Just-in-time manufacturing has great advantages like little excess and no prefinancing costs.

Слайд 21
DIGITAL DESIGN
CAN SIMPLY BE SENT VIA MAIL
3D printing drastically reduces logistic

costs and makes international collaborations possible.

Слайд 22THE STOREHOUSE WILL BE MEASURED IN BITS
NOT IN SQUARE FEET
Storing digital

information for 3D printers is nearly free. This enables a huge, worldwide homogenous product portfolio.

Слайд 23DIGITAL DESIGN
CAN BE A/B-TESTED AND EVOLVED
Small alterations can be made to

find the local maximum of a design’s popularity. Evolutionary algorithms can be used to create multiple versions of a design automatically.

Слайд 24DESIGN BECOMES INTERACTIVE
AND TRULY UNIQUE

Слайд 25WE ARE READY.
AND WE WANT TO GO FURTHER.

At Stilnest,

we already find new Objects and Shapes every day, create worldwide Collaborations with inspriring artists. We produce on-demand, we are flexible and we can handle rapid trend cycles. But we want to go further:
We want to evolve Digital Design, Interactive Design, A/B Testing of designer pieces, and ultimately find the evolutionary algorithms of design.
Are you on board?
