Burdzh-el-Arab (Arab. برج العرب‎, literally "The Arab tower") — magnificent hotel in Dubai, the largest city of the United Arab Emirates. The building stands in the sea at distance of 270 meters from the coast on the artificial island connected to the earth by means of the bridge. Having height of 321 meter, I was the highest hotel in the world, there was no other Dubai hotel yet — Roza's Tower — 333 meters high which opened in April, 2008, some more higher hotels appeared later. As of 2015 Burdzh-el-Arab is the building of Asia, the 56th on height, and the 70th on height in the world.

Construction of hotel began in 1994, for visitors it opened on December 1, 1999. The hotel was constructed in the form of a sail of preschool educational institution, the Arab vessel. Closer to top there is a helipad, and on the other hand — restaurant of El-Muntaj (from Arab the Highest), both are supported by console beams.
The hall of hotel consists of two floors. On the first floor check in living in hotel is made, on the second floor of the hall shops and cafe, and also the corridor conducting to high-speed elevators are located. In the hall of a corridor, on a floor, there is a unique mosaic. Rise on the second floor is carried out by means of the escalators located on the right side of the hall. Near escalators in a wall aquariums are built in, and between them there is a step jet fountain with illumination.

Arab tower

Burj al arab was constructed in the south of the Persian Gulf, in Dubai, one of the largest cities of the UAE, on artificially created land area, in 280 meters from the coast. Burj Al Arab is located at: Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah 3, and on the map of the world it is located on the following coordinates: 25 ° 8 ′ 28 ″ NL, 55 ° 11 ′ 8 ″ EL.

The Burj al arab hotel ("The Arab tower") which height makes 321 meters above sea-level was constructed at the initiative of the sheikh Mohamed and it is considered the highest hotel on the planet. All numbers belong to the class a suite (in spite of the fact that officially Hotel is considered five-stars hotel). It should be noted that "Sail" in Dubai is also considered one of the highest constructions of our planet.

Construction

The sheikh has put quite strict term of execution of the order before builders: Burj al arab in the UAE needed to be constructed by the beginning of the XXI century (considering complexity, amount of works, and also the fact that construction has begun in 1994, the task very much was even difficult, but as it has appeared, it is feasible). More than 3 thousand companies, 250 designers from the USA, the UAE and Great Britain have been involved in construction works, and on the platform constantly there were more than 3,5 thousand builders regardless of time of day.

Interior decor of hotel occurred in the conditions of state of emergency. Terms drew in, and to begin finishing with a tree, gold and silk in the building, without having finished completely external works, it was impossible: stem of thermometer in the UAE quite often rose to +50 °C. Therefore the room needed to be cooled for what on all building conditioners and that at the top of the hall condensate wasn't formed were installed, temperature in hotel was gradually lowered – by one degree a day, and for half a year it reached norm.

Works on finishing of Burj Al Arab were charged Kuang Chu, having allocated for this purpose twenty four months and having bought the best and rare materials among which:
24 thousand sq.m of the Brazilian and Italian marble;
8 thousand sq.m of gold leaf;
Carpets and floor coverings from the Republic of South Africa and India;
Chandeliers from Great Britain (all 28 thousand lamps have been used);
Swarovski's crystals;
44 thousand sq.m of glass panels – them used for a glazing of Burj al arab.

At first the hall has been painted in monophonic white color as the designer has decided that his unique design will be so better visible. But when Kuang Chu has come to a conclusion that works on finishing are complete, the sheikh's question of when the hall is ended, has dumbfounded her.

To change a view of the hall, it was necessary to spend about half a year more, and this time Mohamed has seen that wanted: impressive kaleidoscope of live paints. The special highlight allocated the fountain falls located between escalators creating inexpressible visual effect when the water stream in combination with artificial fog on glass and stone steps goes down to the bottom of falls, and from above the water streams which are constantly changing a form are formed at this time.

In spite of the fact that height of Burj al arab makes 321 m, in it only 202 numbers located on 28 floors are equipped. Each number consists of two tiers, the area of the smallest apartments makes 169, and the biggest – 780 square meters. The price in a night in Hotel fluctuates from 1 000 to 28 000 dollars.

All apartments of "Sail" offer extremely high level of comfort and service. In Hotel more than 1,5 thousand employees from 75 countries of the world therefore each number has the personal butler and about eight employees work.

One of unique features of hotel numbers Burj al arab are the huge sizes of a window overlooking the Persian Gulf (they occupy practically all wall). On the first tier of apartments there are a drawing room, an office, on the second – bedrooms and bathrooms (it is interesting that all cosmetics which is provided by Hotel in use to clients and also slippers and a beach bag at eviction can be taken away with itself).

All apartments of hotel are equipped with the last technical novelties. For example, existence of the multipurpose panel by means of which it is possible to put forward the TV is provided in numbers, to close and open doors, blinds and even to call the butler. In each number not less than fourteen telephones, and in royal apartments – twenty seven are installed. All TVs in numbers have the gold case, and for the period of accommodation in hotel to clients the gilded tablet is given.

In Burdzh-el-Arabe the highest atrium lobby in the world (180 meters). In Burdzh-el-Arabe there are no usual rooms; it is divided into 202 two-storeyed numbers. The smallest borrows 169, and the biggest — 780 square meters. It is one of the most expensive hotels in the world. The price in a night in the standard and improved number varies from 1000 to 15 000 dollars, and the price of night in Royal Suite — about 28 000. Information on that how much means were spent for construction of hotel, isn't disclosed.

The hotel characterizes itself as seven-stars, the characteristic is a hyperbole and attempt to leave the category of the hotels characterizing themselves as six-stars. In an interior of Burdzh-el-Araba about 8000 square meters of 22-karat gold leaf were used. All numbers are equipped with the latest technology and design and offer the highest level of luxury and comfort. A highlight of all numbers — the huge floor-to-ceiling windows opening a view of the sea.
One of restaurants of hotel, El-Muntaj, is at the height of 200 meters over the Persian Gulf, and from it the view of the city of Dubai opens. A pull on it is made by the panoramic elevator.

Other restaurant, "El-Makhar" (from Arab — the Oyster) to which visitors are brought on the vessel imitating the submarine contains a huge aquarium with sea water with a capacity more than one million liters. Walls of a tank are made of plexiglass (for decrease in magnifying effect) about 18 cm thick. This restaurant, according to the Conde Nast Traveler magazine, is one of the best restaurants of the world.

Холл отеля состоит из двух этажей. На первом этаже производится регистрация проживающих в отеле, на втором этаже холла расположены магазины и кафе, а также коридор, ведущий к скоростным лифтам. В холле коридора, на полу, имеется уникальная мозаика. Подъем на второй этаж осуществляется с помощью эскалаторов, расположенных с правой стороны холла. Рядом с эскалаторами в стене вмонтированы аквариумы, а между ними находится ступенчатый струйный фонтан с подсветкой.

Строительство
Шейх поставил перед строителями довольно строгий термин исполнения своего заказа: Burj al arab в ОАЭ нужно было построить к началу XXI столетия (учитывая сложность, объём работ, а также то, что строительство началось в 1994 году, задача была очень даже непроста, но, как оказалось, осуществима). В строительных работах было задействовано более 3 тыс. компаний, 250 дизайнеров из США, ОАЭ и Великобритании, а на площадке постоянно находилось более 3,5 тыс. строителей вне зависимости от времени суток.

Внутреннее оформление гостиницы происходило в условиях ЧП. Сроки поджимали, а начинать отделку деревом, золотом и шёлком внутри здания, не завершив полностью наружные работы, было нельзя: столбик термометра в ОАЭ нередко поднимался до +50°С. Поэтому помещение нужно было охлаждать, для чего по всему зданию были установлены кондиционеры, а чтобы вверху холла не образовывался конденсат, температуру в отеле постепенно понижали – на один градус в день, и за полгода она достигла нормы.
Работы по отделке Бурдж аль араб были поручены Куан Чу, выделив для этого двадцать четыре месяца и закупив самые лучшие и редкие материалы, среди которых:

24 тыс. м2 бразильского и итальянского мрамора;
8 тыс. м2 сусального золота;
Ковры и напольные покрытия из ЮАР и Индии;
Люстры из Великобритании (всего было использовано 28 тыс. ламп);
Кристаллы Сваровски;
44 тыс.м2 стеклянных панелей – их использовали для остекления Burj al arab.
Сначала холл был выкрашен в однотонный белый цвет, поскольку дизайнер решила, что так будет лучше видна его уникальная конструкция. Но когда Куан Чу пришла к выводу, что работы по отделке завершены, вопрос шейха о том, когда будет окончен холл, её ошарашил.
Чтобы изменить вид холла, пришлось потратить ещё около полугода, и в этот раз Мохамед увидел именно то, что хотел: впечатляющий калейдоскоп живых красок. Особой изюминкой выделялся расположенный между эскалаторами фонтан-водопад, создающий непередаваемый визуальный эффект, когда водяной поток в сочетании с искусственным туманом по стеклянным и каменным ступеням спускается к подножию водопада, а сверху в это время образуются постоянно изменяющие форму водные потоки.

Одной из уникальных особенностей отельных номеров Burj al arab являются огромных размеров окна с видом на Персидский залив (они занимают практически всю стену). На первом ярусе апартаментов находятся гостиная, кабинет, на втором – спальни и ванные комнаты (интересно, что всю косметику, которую предоставляет Hotel в пользование клиентам, а также тапочки и пляжную сумку при выселении можно забрать с собой).
Все апартаменты отеля оснащены последними техническими новинками. Например, в номерах предусмотрено наличие многофункционального пульта, с помощью которого можно выдвигать телевизор, закрывать и открывать двери, жалюзи и даже вызвать дворецкого. В каждом номере установлено не менее четырнадцати телефонов, а в королевских апартаментах – двадцать семь. Все телевизоры в номерах имеют золотой корпус, а на время проживания в отеле клиентам выдаётся позолоченный планшет.
