Lake National Park lies in the Cascade Mountains in southwestern Oregon. Intensely blue and unusually deep (1,935 feet), the lake is almost exactly circular. It is the water-filled caldera of an extinct volcano, Mount Mazama, and lava cliffs rise to heights of up to 2,000 feet around the lake.

Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Are
The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area follows the course of the Columbia River as it cuts through the Cascade Mountain Range. Formed by the river, the gorge is known for its spectacular views and numerous waterfalls, including Multnomah Falls - the second highest waterfall in the country. 

Cannon Beach The beach
It offers a wide stretch of sand and spectacular views of jagged coastal rocks. The largest of these is known as Hay Stack Rock, thought to be one of the largest monoliths in the world. Nearby Seaside is another popular resort town, close to beaches and surf breaks.

Mountains and half in California, Lake Tahoe is a blast of amazing clear blue water surrounded by high mountains. Originally inhabited by the Washoe people, the area is now home to a number of ski resorts as well as boating, fishing, water skiing, mountain biking, and hiking activities.

Hoover Dam
Built during the Great Depression as a way to provide jobs, Hoover Dam is a marvel of modern engineering, Unfortunately, more than 100 workers died during its construction, but today the dam is a major tourist attraction. It attracts more than one million visitors every year.

The Valley of Fire
It covers more than 42,000 acres of otherworldly sandstone formations created from giant sand dunes that solidified here nearly 150 million years ago. Human occupation dates to 3,000 years ago. This is a rugged landscape, perfect for hiking and wildlife viewing. Just be careful in the summer when temperatures can climb to a toasty 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The park is open year-round.

walls of this butte stand tall among the prairie around it. The elevation of White Butte is 3,506 ft above sea level. The carved walls of the butte were created over centuries from gradual erosion and resulted in the towering form it is today.

Chase Lake
This spectacular aerial view of a nesting island in Chase Lake, part of the Chase Lake National Wildlife Refuge, is the nesting grounds to thousands of birds. White pelicans, hawks, ibises, herons, geese, and others call this place their home. It's a beautiful place and a wonder of nature when you see the thousands of birds gathered here year after year.

Theodore Roosevelt National Park
One of the most beloved and breathtaking parts of North Dakota is definitely here. The magnificent canyons and valleys are full of color and life. It's nature at its very finest and will never fail to impress.

Badlands National Park
A road runs through the park from the northwestern entrance, lined with parking places and viewpoints that offer changing vistas of the rugged rock formations to the south. Throughout the park, particularly in the Cedar Pass area, there are marked hiking trails.

Custer State Park
A large herd of bison roams the peaceful landscape. Scenic drives provide easy access to the park, offering great views, and for the more adventurous there are trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.

northern offshoot of the Chihuahua Desert and is surrounded by rugged mountains. Here, gleaming white gypsum sand has built up into an extraordinary landscape of dunes up to 60 ft high, which are constantly displaced by the wind.

Bandelier National Monument
Bandelier National Monument is a 33,677-acre preserve encompassing some of the most dramatic volcanic landscapes and archaeological ruins in the state. Former home of ancestral Pueblo people, the area was occupied from 1150 to 1600AD. Visitors can take advantage of a fine museum, camping options, an interpretative trail and excellent back-country hiking.

Carlsbad Caverns National Park
It is hidden mostly underground. Carved from limestone deposited in an ancient sea, the alien underground landscape is one of the most famous New Mexico tourist attractions. The Park Service offers self-guided audio tours and ranger-led tours. Visitors can also experience bat tours, trips to specific caves and walks through the outlandish geological formations.

first landmarks to be declared a National Natural Landmark. The large chalk formations are impressive, rising unexpectedly from the flat farmland surrounding them on all sides. They reach up to 70 ft in places and it is possible to see fossilized sea life embedded in the chalk.

Though the falls remain mostly unknown to tourists, they are popular with locals for fishing, hiking and canoeing. The falls are 60 ft wide with a short 5 ft drop. Pillsbury Crossing itself is a low-water river crossing, perfect for splashing your ankles in hot weather. 

Mushroom Rock State Park The
It features many captivating rock formations called ‘hoodoos’. These strange formations are formed through uneven erosion and weathering, giving the rocks the appearance of mushrooms.
