Since you are getting ready to arrive in Sri Lanka in another few days ,we think that we should inform about your life hear as much as possible. We wish to provide you information & guidelines as much as possible about the project & Sri Lanka so you can get be prepared better . So with having that purpose please go through this booklet carefully Explore Sri Lanka is a tourism based project initiated by the Colombo North Local Committee of AIESEC Sri Lanka .This project is conducted for the 9th consecutive time. The project starts on 18th July to28rd of August 2016 .We mainly target on Sri Lankan Tourism in Sri Lanka & try to reveal the hidden beauty of Sri Lanka through photographs ,articles & videos.

Project Schedule

Induction :

With the expectations of creating a better understanding, setting your expectations & getting to know each other we will be arranging an induction day on 18th July .On this day you will be advised about the weekly plan of the project & there will be a session conducted by AIESEC Colombo North Local Committee in Sri Lanka .You will be introduced to the project member s & you are given a chance to introduce yourselves & your country to us & for fellow interns This tourism related project comprises of 3 phases.

Phase one
The project includes a workshop about the photography and the vediography with the collaboration of the Department of Fine Arts. This will be a very good opportunity for you have the basic knowledge and to exchange your experience with the professionals

2. Phase two
Will comprise of a series of tours, which would include a maximum of 3 lengthy trips (3-4 days) and 3 non-lengthy trips. (1-2 days) . They would be capturing the beauty of Sri Lanka both as photographs and video recordings. All the capturing and editing of both photographs and videos will be undertaken by 25 of international interns. During the project, participants are expected to take a minimum of 350 photographs per person and as a team provide a minimum of 10 videos and the completed documentary will be displayed at the final event.

3. Phase three
Includes a Photo Exhibition where the selected best photographs will be exhibited. This is the main event of project Explore Sri Lanka which is scheduled to be held soon after the completion of second phase. The event will be concluded with an Award Ceremony for the project participants and a set of AIESEC Jives.

Rough EP budget for 6 weeks

These amounts roughly made best estimates on your expenditure during your 6 weeks of stay.

The TN fee should be paid to the Local Committee, within 3 days of arrival .Please bring the amount separately USD .Do not exchange in to other currencies.

The amount includes AIESEC administration & Management costs ,cost on main accommodation., transportation cost for the tours and accommodation cost for the tours.

Since you all are coming for voluntary based internship ,you need to have Entry Visa , but not tourist visa .AIESEC Colombo North Local Committee is taking care of getting entry visa for each & every intern & maximum it will take 4 weeks of time . We will be informing you once your visa is ready so the you can got to your Sri Lankan embassy & get the things done

If you do not have an embassy, we will be sending you a document call “landing endorsement” ,so you need to take that document & can stamp visa at the Sri Lankan Airport once you arrived.

Since the project goes for more than one month you need to extend your visa for another one month & it’s a mandatory, so the amount we have mentioned in the table is for the visa extension

Main Accommodation
You will be provided your accommodation through your TN fee .
Both girls & boys will be staying in the same house but in separate rooms gender wise & in one room 4 or 5 interns will be staying .

Either beds or mattresses will be provided to sleep
Wi-fi is not very common in Sri Lanka ,so it is not available in the accommodation place .Normally we do buy internet connections ,so we will instruct you how to access internet visa hot-spot facility .

For the project LKR 25.000 has been allocated for Electricity and Water. Any amounts exceeding that should be borne by EPs .Therefore please take care not to waste your resources, water and electricity.

For the breakages LKR 1000 should be deposit by every EP on the induction day.

From the city to the main accommodation you can have took –took.

When going for tours we usually use a bus where a large number can go

Stuffs to bring 1. Comfortable clothes for travelling ( please note that in tours we are supposed to go for temples & other religious places as well .you are required to wear cloths which covers your body .eg: long slacks ,long trousers etc )
2. Traditional clothes ,traditional foods(to showcase your culture in the global village)
3. Sun cream ,sun-glasses ,umbrella
4. Any special medicine you require (eg: Allergy pills )
5. Bed sheets (2)
6. A small Pillow & a pillow cover (you can buy it from sri lanka as well)
7. Towel & other sanitary items
8. A back pack for tours
9. Bug repellant (Specially for mosquitoes)
10.Your student ID card of your university

Special stuff for the project
1. Professional camera (DSLR camera ,water proof camera, Go Pro Camera)
2. Laptop ( it should installed photo-shop ,illustrator ,quarrel- draw & other useful software to edit photographs & videos )

3. A presentation made by you using the photos that you have taken

4. A gift (for the gift exchange in the introduction day)

TERMS
A security deposit has been made to the owner of the property to cover any damages done to the property of accommodation place. If any of the EPs or members cause any harm or damage to the property intentionally or unintentionally has to reimburse the cost to AIESEC.

So please be careful to not make any damages.

During the tours few members of AIESEC will join you. They will help you complete the tours successfully and in the most cost effective manner reducing the charges a foreigner is normally entitled for.

AIRPORT PICK UPS
As we have already mentioned, we are providing you with airport pick ups. A member of our group will be there at the airport to pick you. We will send you all the contact details of the person who is going to pick you, along with a photograph of that person.

Before arrival send us a clear photograph of you so that you could be identified.

Before leaving your country contact Wish (wishwithanage93@gmail.com or +94712220034) ,Teshani (teshanidj@gmail.com or +94711920178) and reconfirm your arrival date, time and flight name and number.

Once you get down from the flight come to the arrival lobby of the airport. At the Lobby you can purchase a SIM card to be used in Sri Lanka. After getting the SIM activated call the person who is supposed to pick you. Or you can take a call from the telephone booths located in the lobby as well. To use the telephone booths you need LKR coins.

After contacting the picker come out through the exit. Outside, the person who is going to pick you will be there. For more details of services available at the airport visit http://www.airport.lk/passenger-guide/arrivalservices.php#comm

There will be a cab waiting for you. You will be dropped off at the place of accommodation. You need to pay for the cab coming to drop you. & well as you have to pay for the cab when you are leaving Sri Lanka (A rough estimation of the cost is included in the budget above)

Net Promoter score(NPS)

NPS is simple mechanism used for checking the quality of the delivery of all our programs. It is a tool launched by AIESEC International whereby participants fill a simple survey as shown in the image bellow. Based on the score given, they would be classified as Detractors (1-6), Passives (7-8) or Promoters (9-10). We are hoping to get more or promoters but the idea is to identify detractors to improve the service of our programs in order to get more promoters whose stories we can showcase.

Interns (GIP & GCDP participants) and members (TMP & TLP participants) would be receiving this survey periodically. Please ensure you fill this so we can act on this.
