Слайд 2World War I was a global war, originating In Europe that lasted from July 1914
to November 1918. More than 70 million soldiers, including 60 million Europeans, went to the front. Over nine million soldiers and seven million civilians died as a result of the war.

Unfortunately, our generation started forgetting the exploit of our ancestors, who
changed the face of the world to a great extent. Many architects build monuments to maintain memory.

One of these monuments is situated in Rostov-on-Don.
It was created
by Sergey Isakov in 2014 in honor of 100 years since the beginning of the war.

The monument is a 3.5-meter-high bronze figure of a a severe
soldier, in uniform, with a straight back, and a serious look, with a rifle on his shoulder.

It was opened on August 1, 2014, on the day of
Russia's entry into the war. The grand opening was attended by the mayor of the city, representatives of city administration, and local Cossacks.

This monument is situated in the public square of Rostov-on-Don at
the junction of Karsnoarmeyskaya street and Khalturinsky lane near College of Radioelectronics, Information and Industrial Technologies.
