Socha in Slovenia- is a beautiful
river, originating in a valley surrounded by picturesque Slovenian Alps. The valley of the most beautiful river of Slovenia keeps the sad heritage of the First World War.

its rapids, waterfalls, forests, it is difficult to imagine what Ernest Hemingway described as a gray and empty place.

of the bloodiest fronts of the First World War. At least 1.7 million soldiers were killed here.

During the First World War, the Socha River (Italians called it
Isonzo) shared two warring sides: Italy and Austria-Hungary. From 1915 to 1917 there were 12 major battles here.

about 300,000 people, to leave their homes and move to the territory of Austria-Hungary. Many residents had to sacrifice their homes to the military, so that they converted them into barracks.

the Italians, after the Second World War the Soča valley became part of Yugoslavia, and only in the 90s of the 20th century Slovenia achieved independence and now this valley belongs to it.
